Felt Flower Wreath {Monthly Pinterest} February 2012

Back in February a couple friends and I decided it was a must to schedule a monthly get-together.  They both have two young children, and while I don't, my life still manages to stay plenty busy. We're all fairly creative and, like just about everyone else, completely addicted to Pinterest.

I've known these girls women for a very long time - almost my entire life. We had drifted apart for many years, but it was a great surprise when I learned they live in the same town we moved to almost three years ago.

While I absolutely love my house, and the convenience of my house to many things, I had been severely missing having friends that live near me. I'm completely content hanging out with my husband, SH, all the time. The problem is, that's not really healthy. I think it's really important for each person in a relationship to have his/her own time. SH has some local friends, but I can probably count on my hands the number of times I went out for girl time before these craft nights started.

I was thrilled when we decided to have monthly crafting get-togethers. We rotate hosting, the host picks the craft and buys the supplies with a budget of $10-$20 per person.

The first craft was making felt-flower wreaths, inspired from this pin (clicking on the pin will give you the felt flower tutorial):

Since it was February we figured the wreath would be great for Valentine's Day, so we went with primarily of pinks and reds.
All three of us came up with slightly different variations. One thing I wish is that I was able to master the two-tone flower..maybe next time.

The next day I texted my parents the picture in the top right. I asked which was their favorite wreath, and they both picked the one on the far right. Not mine. Haha.
I love my wreath so much, it's still hanging up in May.

May will mark our 4th month craftiversary. Over the next week or so I'll catch you up on what we've done in March, April and May. Hopefully moving forward I'll be taking some better pictures. The last couple of month's they've just been quick afterthoughts, but I'm glad I have them!

  1. Love the wreath! What a great idea to get together with friends. My friends tried a movie night (pre-children days) but we never watched the movie and just talked. Crafting gives you an activity AND talking. Great combination!
